    Introducing the Lotte Resorts Brand

Lotte Hotels & Resorts is the hospitality brand under Hotel Lotte, a subsidiary of the Lotte Group(004990.KS ₩31,650). Within its portfolio, the resort properties are specifically branded as Lotte Resorts.

Under the slogan “Design the Value of Time,” Lotte Resorts focuses on delivering authentic experiences that honor the guest’s time and well-being. Each property features nature-friendly design and actively incorporates local culture, history, and artistic elements. The result is a comprehensive experience that offers relaxation, healing, gastronomy, and leisure beyond everyday life.

Lotte Resorts offers a wide range of options by operating both condominium-style rooms with fully equipped kitchens and hotel-type rooms without cooking facilities. In addition, the resorts are not isolated stand-alone properties; they are strategically positioned to provide easy access to dining, entertainment, shopping, local attractions, cultural sites, and waterparks, allowing guests to enjoy a complete and convenient vacation experience.

However, there is an issue with inconsistent branding across the hotels. Most global hotel companies name their properties using a clear format: Brand (Lotte Resorts) + Location Name. In the case of Lotte Resorts, only Lotte Resort Buyeo and Lotte Resort Sokcho follow this convention. The other three properties—Jeju Art Villas, Lotte Arai Resort, and Lotte Hotel & Resort Gimhae—use inconsistent naming, which can confuse guests. This inconsistency stems from Lotte Group’s internal structure, divided between Lotte Korea and Lotte Japan, resulting in complex management arrangements for each resort.

It offers hotel-level facilities and services along with a wide range of amenities.
Key features include more than 310 condominium-style rooms, the indoor–outdoor Aqua Garden water park, a premium outlet mall, multiple dining venues such as restaurants and cafés, a convention center, and various family- and children-oriented activity zones. Lotte Arai Resort originally opened in 1993 as Sony Arai Resort, developed by Hideo Morita, the eldest son of the late Akio Morita, founder of Sony. Due to financial difficulties within the Sony Group, the resort closed in 2006 and remained idle for several years. Lotte Hotels acquired the property in 2015, carried out approximately two years of renovation, and reopened it in 2017 under the name Lotte Arai Resort.
The resort is located in Myoko Kogen, Niigata Prefecture, a region known for heavy snowfall and recognized as one of the birthplaces of skiing in Japan. Since Lotte’s acquisition, the property has been operated as an all-season integrated resort offering facilities for slalom skiing, snowboard downhill and jump activities, and various other leisure sports, earning strong reviews from visitors.

Lotte Hotel & Resorts Gimhae was launched in June 2021 as a development project utilizing the remaining land within the Gimhae Tourism and Distribution Complex. This complex includes the largest waterpark in the Gyeongnam region, Lotte Outlet, a sports center, and a theme park, creating a comprehensive tourism and leisure infrastructure.
The hotel’s exterior design was inspired by the “upright ornaments” of the gilt-bronze crowns of the Geumgwan Gaya Kingdom. The interior follows a family-friendly “Family Adventure Town” concept designed to accommodate guests of all ages. Facilities include an indoor pool and a seasonal outdoor pool, a full-service spa, sauna, fitness center, kids’ club, golf practice range, and both indoor and outdoor tennis courts, offering a wide range of recreational options for visitors.

Resort Competitors in Lotte Resorts’ Market Segment

Most resort properties in South Korea are located outside major cities, typically in regions near golf courses, coastal areas, and other tourist destinations. Within the domestic market, the leading companies operating large-scale resort portfolios include Sono Hotels & Resorts under Daemyung Sono Group (Preparing for an IPO), Hanwha Hotels & Resorts under Hanwha Group (000880.KS ₩88,900), Kensington Hotels & Resorts under E-Land Group (Privately held or unlisted), Ananti under Ananti (025980.KS ₩6,840), and Haevichi Hotel & Resort under Hyundai Motor Group (005380.KS ₩272,500). These brands collectively shape the core landscape of Korea’s resort industry.

In the global context, the competitive set for Lotte Resorts can be benchmarked against resort offerings from major international hotel groups. Key comparables include JW Marriott Resorts and Marriott Resorts under Marriott International (MAR $285.72); Holiday Inn Suites and Holiday Inn Resorts under IHG (IHG $128.92); and the Trademark Collection by Wyndham under Wyndham Hotels & Resorts (WH $72.08). These global brands represent the closest equivalents in terms of positioning, amenities, and target market within the broader hospitality industry.

Search Criteria: Monday, December 8, 2025 – Tuesday, December 9, 2025; 1-night stay; member rate on the official website; price in USD(Tax & Service Charge Included)

    Branch Standard Select Suite
    Lotte Resort Buyeo $116.41 $147.04
    Jeju Art Villas $387.68 $387.68
    Lotte Resort Sokcho $168.82 $229.41
Lotte Arai Resort $89.85 Unavailable for booking
    Lotte Hotel & Resort Gimhae $107.56 $150.44

At Jeju Art Villas, all accommodations are designed as pool villa–style suites. As a result, the property’s standard room category is effectively its select suite category. For reference, the standard unit DA GROUP 63-pyong Type A’ measures 210㎡ and features a three-story layout with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, offering a substantially larger configuration than typical resort accommodations.

At Lotte Arai Resort in Japan, reservations are currently available only up to the “Deluxe Family Twin Room – Lodge Wing” category from now through March 2026. Higher room categories, including the select suite class such as the “Deluxe Suite R Room,” are not bookable at this time. Reservations for stays from April 2026 onward have not yet opened, making it difficult to provide a meaningful comparison of room rates for the upper-tier suites.
